Jazz in Your Face Big Band to Perform 25th Anniversary Concert with Local High School Talent and Featured Vocalists at Richland Performing Arts Center.
On February 1, 2025, the RPAC will welcome a very special group of guest performers for a very special event celebrating Jazz In Your Face's 25th Anniversary as the area's premiere Big Band! Jazz In Your Face is a Johnstown-based band made up of educators and musicians. JIYF is familiar to regional audiences for its performances in venues large and small, including the Flood City Music Festival.
Prepare for an evening of swing, soul, and sensational sounds as Jazz in Your Face Big Band takes the stage. Joining the band for this unforgettable performance are talented vocalists DENISE CANBY and LEANNA MCGIBONEY, along with the extraordinary talents of local high school students.
Jazz in your face band leader and drummer Michael Bodolosky has made an immeasurable impact on musicians in the Johnstown area. Bodolosky is a current member of the Richland School District School Board and faculty member at the University of Pittsburgh Johnstown where he also served as the Executive Director of the Pasquerilla Performing Arts Center for a number of years. Prior to this, he spent his career teaching thousands of students about music at both Richland and Johnstown School Districts.
The band performs Big Band era music, sometimes filtered through a contemporary lens. JIYF's repertoire also includes bebop, cool jazz, and jazz and Latin standards.
